'Hawks to open with fireworks, giveaways

May 7, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks will open their seventh season in the Stateline later this month with a five-game homestand that includes fireworks and calendar, magnet schedule, bobblehead and autograph-book giveaways.

Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City. Everyone in the stadium that night will receive a full-color RiverHawks souvenir calendar, sponsored by the Clocktower Resort/CoCo Key indoor water resort and Maverick Media. FatWallet.com and WIFR sponsor postgame fireworks. New Vision Laser Center and Applebee’s sponsor the first Reading Club Night of the year.

The Rascals and RiverHawks play two more games before defending Frontier League champion Windy City visits May 24-25.

The game on Thursday, May 22 is the first Miller Lite/104.9 – the X Dollar Beer Night of the season. In addition, the U.S. Army and U.S. Marines sponsor the first weekly Military Appreciation Night of the year.

On Friday and Saturday, May 23-24, the first 2,500 each night will receive a RiverHawks magnet schedule, sponsored by Wal-Mart, Ferrellgas and BOB-FM. Following the game on May 23 will be the season premier of the FatWallet.com Friday Night Fireworks Series.

The May 24 game is also the first night of the Hall of Fame series of five bobbleheads featuring former Chicago Cubs greats – Ernie Banks (May 24), Billy Williams (June 28), Fergie Jenkins (July 19), Ryne Sandberg (Aug. 2) and Ron Santo (Aug. 9). The first 1,000 through the gate each night receive the unique giveaway, sponsored by Jones Transportation and WIFR.

The homestand wraps up at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, the first weekly Family Night of the season, sponsored by K-Mart and Dr Pepper. Early-arriving kids receive a free RiverHawks autograph book. Kids get to run the bases after the game.

In addition, the American Heart Association is selling tickets for that night’s game to raise money for charity.

Standard gametimes are 7:05 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 6:05 p.m. Sunday.

Partial-season ticket plans start at just $40 and include five-, 10- and 20-game plans. Full-season plans start at $484. Individual seats are now on sale at $5 for general admission, $8 for outfield, $10 for infield, $12 for home plate and $15 for premium. All tickets are for assigned, box seating.
