« Back

March 13, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Filling out a bracket for basketball tournaments is a March tradition. This year, the Rockford RiverHawks offer their fans an opportunity to turn their picks into free baseball tickets and apparel.

The RiverHawks announced on Thursday the launch of their “Brackets & Baseball Challenge.” Fans are invited to visit the team’s website, rockfordriverhawks.com, and click on the link to the RiverHawks’ group in the Tourney Pick’Em page at Yahoo Fantasy Sports.

Participating prognosticators will fill out their picks for all games in this year’s tournament. They’ll then face each other, members of the RiverHawks front office and local sports reporters to see who made the best picks.

The fan with the most accurate picks will receive a $50 gift card redeemable at Road Ranger Stadium. Others in the top five will receive a $20 card. There is no charge to enter the contest. All participants will be entered into a contest to win two free 10-game mini-season plans.

All participants must have a Yahoo ID, which is free. Use group ID 50542. The password is "rocko".

Fans can register online anytime through 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20. Picks can be made from Sunday afternoon until the tournament begins Thursday morning.

Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
