March 4, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Rocko the RiverHawk has a new official co-sponsor.
The Rockford RiverHawks announced Tuesday that Pizza Ranch will sponsor the Stateline’s top mascot this year. Pizza Ranch, located at 4797 Bluestem Rd. in Roscoe, offers pizza, chicken, salad, deserts and more in its buffet, table-service, takeout and delivery services.
In addition to 51 regular-season home games, Rocko also makes more than 100 hundred appearances at local businesses, parades and events and has visited dozens of elementary schools this winter as part of the team’s community-relations efforts.
Rocko will also make occasional visits to Pizza Ranch on its Tuesday Kids Night, when kids eat free with an adult buffet purchase. Rocko has already made an impression on his previous visits to Pizza Ranch.
“A lot of kids know who Rocko was,” Pizza Ranch co-owner Mary Moore said. “A familiar entity is important to kids, and that makes it a special deal. And when it’s important to kids, it’s important to me.”
Rocko is central to game nights at the stadium, from his pregame introduction video to his mingling with the fans in the stands during the game.
Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
