March 3, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks’ top returning hitter and a regular catcher from last year will return to Road Ranger Stadium for another season, the team announced Monday.

The RiverHawks have exercised their 2008 options on outfielder/pitcher Jason James and catcher Justus Kimbrough.

Last year, his first full professional season, James hit .345, second in the Frontier League, with seven home runs and 61 RBI. James was also an all-star. James’ .344 career average is the best in team history.

On the mound, James was 0-2 with a 10.38 earned-run average in seven relief appearances. Manager Bob Koopmann said last week he planned on giving the left-hander more regular pitching work. James has 1-Year status in the Frontier League.

Kimbrough set career highs in most offensive categories last year. He hit .252 with no home runs and 13 RBI in 43 games. He has Rookie-2 status.

Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City.
