RiverHawks sign outfielder

March 3, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced today that they have signed outfielder Matt Mazurek.

Mazurek, who turns 24 Friday, appeared in 22 games last season as a rookie with Joliet of the independent Northern League. He hit .333 with no home runs and six RBI for the Jackhammers.

In his final season of college ball, Mazurek hit .358 with two homers and 44 RBI for Canisius.

Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
