RiverHawks deal for pitcher

January 2, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have picked up another pitcher for the 2008 season.

On Wednesday, the team announced it had acquired pitcher Jonathan Burke from Quebec of the independent Can-Am League in exchange for future considerations.

Burke was 1-0 with a save and a 3.86 earned-run average in 11 relief appearances for les Capitales. Burke, 23, is a 6-foot-6, 245-pound left-hander out of New York Tech.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
