RiverHawks sign outfielder
« Back

October 24, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced Wednesday that they have signed outfielder Aaron Davis to a contract.

Davis spent his first season in professional baseball with Orange County of the independent Golden League. This summer, he hit .310 with no home runs and 24 RBI in 142 at-bats.

RiverHawks director of baseball operations Dave Ciarrachi said Davis, who had eight steals, is a potential leadoff hitter next spring.

“He’s a guy who has exceptionally good speed, who stole a lot of bases in college and will have the opportunity to steal lots of bases here, if he wins the center-field job in spring training,” Ciarrachi said.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season in 2008. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
