September 21, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced Friday that they have completed two earlier trades with River City.

The RiverHawks sent catcher Andrew Sweet and pitcher Jason Baca to the Rascals to complete a pair of August trades for players to be named later.

Baca was sent to complete the Ben Brockman trade. On Aug. 11, the RiverHawks picked up Brockman and the Rascals’ 2008 second-round pick for Rockford’s first-round pick and a player to be named.

On Aug. 13, the RiverHawks made a deadline deal to pick up Sweet and the Rascals’ first-round pick for pitcher Justin Young and a player to be named, which turned out to be Sweet.

Sweet, a Belvidere native, hit .260 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 22 games after the trade. Baca, promoted to the closer’s role after the Milwaukee Brewers signed Mike Marksbury at the all-star break, finished with a 4-2 record, eight saves and a 2.03 ERA. Both players will have 1-Year status in the Frontier League in 2008.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season in 2008.
