RiverHawks sign pitcher

August 30, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks signed a pitcher to replace injured starter Shaun Parker on the roster.

Thursday, the RiverHawks announced the signing of right-hander Reed Dickert. Dickert is scheduled to start the nightcap of Thursday’s doubleheader at Kalamazoo.

Dickert, 23, has rookie status in the Frontier League. He was 6-3 with a 4.62 earned-run average in 17 appearances earlier this year with the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden League. He struck out 112 and walked just 46 in 85 2/3 innings. Dickert is in his second year of professional baseball.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season.
