RiverHawks adopt Rally Donkey
« Back

August 16, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rally Donkey is coming to stay at Road Ranger Stadium.

The Rockford RiverHawks announced today that they have officially adopted Dominick the Rally Donkey, who had been the mascot for Bad Ass Coffee. Bad Ass Coffee recently went out of business, and the donkey needed a new home.

The RiverHawks plan to use Dominick as a sidekick mascot to Rocko the RiverHawk. Each mascot will appear in on-field promotions and appearances throughout the Rock River Valley. There may be the opportunity for Rocko-vs.-Dominick mascot races during the last few games of the season.

Fans in section 102, located immediately in front of the press box, have been longtime fans of the Rally Donkey. Since last season, a small stuffed version of the rally donkey has been the unofficial mascot of the RiverHawks press-box staff. When the team trails in the late innings, the fans in 102 will often yell for the Rally Donkey song to be played.

“We’ve had a longtime relationship with the Rally Donkey, and some of our most loyal fans have become very attached to Dominick,” RiverHawks marketing and livestock director Marshall Mackinder said. “He has appeared at the stadium before, and we are overjoyed that he has agreed to join us on a permanent basis.”

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
