August 11, 2007 - CRESTWOOD, Ill. – Windy City third baseman Josh Horn hit a walkoff grand slam with two outs in the ninth on Saturday to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 10-6.
The RiverHawks, who lost a five-run lead, committed four errors in the game and gave up five unearned runs in the ninth inning.
Rockford led, 4-0, after a RBI double by Justus Kimbrough in the second inning and RBI doubles by Matt Hagen and Will Henderson in the third. Hagen was 3-for-5 and gave the RiverHawks a 6-1 lead after a RBI double in the fourth inning.
The ThunderBolts rallied for four runs in the fifth inning and stayed a run back until the ninth.
Horn’s grand slam was the only hit in the ninth inning. Roy Bringleson walked pinch-hitter Amos Ramon to start the inning. Scott Billak attempted to sacrifice. Bringleson bobbled the ball for one error, then threw it away for a second error to put the tying and winning runs on the corners with no outs. Bringleson balked Ramon home, then left after retiring a batter.
Jason Baca relieved him and with two outs, hit a batter, walked another to load the bases, then gave up Horn’s grand slam. Bringleson (0-5) took the loss.
Mike Causey (3-0) pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the win.
