RiverHawks, Kings postponed again
« Back

August 8, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have postponed their scheduled games Wednesday against the Kalamazoo Kings because the extensive thunderstorms which pounded the region in the last several days have left the field unplayable.

Because of weather and wet grounds, the teams played only one of four scheduled games in the series. The RiverHawks won, 4-3, in the opener of Monday’s doubleheader. The nightcap was suspended because of rain with the Kings leading, 1-0, in the bottom of the third inning. That game was to have been completed Wednesday.

Makeup dates have been set. The teams will play a doubleheader Aug. 30 at Kalamazoo to begin what will be a split-site, seven-game series played over the final four calendar days of the season. The teams play a single game on Aug. 31 at Kalamazoo. They will complete the suspended game at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at Road Ranger Stadium, with that night’s regularly scheduled game to follow. The regular season will end with a 5:05 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday, Sept. 2.

The RiverHawks host the first-place Windy City ThunderBolts at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. Miller Lite and 104.9 – the X sponsor Dollar Beer Night. In addition, the RiverHawks will play wearing their camo uniforms on Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by the Army and the Marines.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
