August 2, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks were buried by an early landslide on Thursday.

Slippery Rock scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the second to beat the RiverHawks, 8-4. Casey Bowling led off the game with a home run and Rockford pitcher Luke Hagerty was gone nine hitters into his start.

The Sliders ended a 10-game losing streak with their 16th win of the year. The RiverHawks’ six-game winning streak ended and they fell 3½ games behind wild-card leader Kalamazoo, which beat Evansville, 5-2.

Hagerty (0-1) ran into control problems from the start. Bowling lined a 1-0 pitch over the left-field fence for his fifth home run. Hagerty walked four, one with the bases loaded, hit a batter, threw two wild pitches and gave up two hits. He recorded just two outs.

With two outs in the second inning, Robbie Hine doubled in two runs and Jon Dandridge hit a two-run homer.

The RiverHawks broke the shutout with two outs in the seventh inning on a RBI double by Roberto Valiente and a RBI single by Jason James. James was 3-for-5 and extended his hitting streak to seven games.
