‘Hawks lose wild game in Traverse City, 5-4

July 19, 2007 - TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Traverse City claimed a win in a wild game which featured nine errors, two ejections, and extra innings.

Justin Holmes’ walk-off, bases-loaded single drove in the winning run as Traverse City topped Rockford, 5-4, in 10 innings on Thursday night.

In a game which featured nine errors, including six by Traverse City, Rockford rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take the lead in the seventh inning.

RBI singles from Brad Dutton and Joe Anthonsen tied the score. Jason James’ two-out, RBI double brought home Anthonsen to put Rockford ahead, 4-3. It would be Rockford’s final hit of the night.

RiverHawks rookie relief pitcher Roy Bringelson entered the game in the seventh inning. Doubles from Brad Vericker and Jeff Brown tied the game in the eighth.

In the 10th, Bringelson walked the first three batters of the inning before allowing the game-winning hit to Holmes. Bringelson (0-3) lasted three innings and allowed two runs. He issued three walks, all in the 10th inning, and received the loss. Beach Bums pitcher Bryan Rembisz (2-0) worked a perfect 10th inning for the win.

Rockford starter Brady Salter had a no-decision. He tossed 5 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on three hits. Traverse City pitcher David Nathanson also had a no-decision. He lasted seven innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits.

RiverHawks coaches Reggie Harris (pitching) and Ronnie Nedsett (bench) were both ejected in the ninth inning.

The series continues on Friday night with a 6:05 p.m. first pitch from Traverse City.
