July 18, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Three pitchers are involved in separate transactions announced Wednesday by the Rockford RiverHawks.

The team acquired pitcher Vinnie Rizzi from the Rome Coppers of the independent New York State League in exchange for a player to be named later. In addition, the RiverHawks sent pitcher Dane Towery to the 14-day disabled list and released pitcher Luke Hagerty from the DL on Wednesday.

Statistics from the first-year NYSL were not available.

Towery partially separated his right shoulder last Friday. Towery came out of retirement last month and is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in six relief appearances for Rockford.

Hagerty, the Chicago Cubs’ sandwich pick between the first and second rounds of the 2002 draft, had no record and a 13.50 ERA in two appearances with the RiverHawks. Hagerty had been on the DL since July 5 because of patella tendonitis in his right knee.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season.
