July 14, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks were held to three hits on Saturday, but they collected all three in a span of four batters.
The RiverHawks scored three times in the third inning and held on to beat the River City Rascals, 3-1.
With one in the third, Matt Sauls reached on an infield hit and stole second base. Jason James singled him home and scored on Will Henderson’s fourth-home run of the season, a fly over the fence in right-center.
Bobby Mosby hit a home run off the left-center field scoreboard, his 14th homer, for the Rascals’ lone run.
Rockford starter Brady Salter struck out six in six innings for the win. Salter (3-3) pitched out of jams in the first and second innings. River City left the bases loaded in the second.
River City starter Jon Miller (3-1) struck out seven in seven innings, but took the loss.
The Rockford bullpen pitched three hitless innings, Roy Bringleson pitched two innings for his first professional save.
The RiverHawks have a chance for a three-game series sweep at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. The Power Connection has agreed to buy every seat in the stadium and add a postgame fireworks show to the schedule. In addition, kids get to run the bases on Feldco/B103 Family Nights.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season.
