RiverHawks add three to roster

July 13, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks added three players to the roster today.

The team re-signed pitcher Bobby Mack, signed rookie pitcher Luke Behning and acquired shortstop Jono Brooks in a trade. The RiverHawks released pitcher Dan Ziegler and catcher Cory Vanderhook.

Mack, who has been with the RiverHawks on and off since 2003, was released last month and joined the coaching staff. He has an 0-2 record and an 8.62 ERA.

Behning, 23, is a true rookie out of Ball State University. He was 1-0 with a 5.73 earned-run average in nine appearances for the Cardinals. Behning played at Butler in 2003-04, at Ball State in 2005 and was inactive in 2006.

The Rome Coppers, a member of the first-year New York State League, traded Brooks to the RiverHawks in exchange for future considerations. Statistics were not available.

Ziegler had no record and a 12.00 ERA in two starts. Vanderhook hit .059 (1-for-17) with a RBI in seven games.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season.
