N/X Level All-Stars Win Wood Bat Tourney

July 9, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Wisconson’s N/X Level All-Stars are the champions of the 2007 Rockford RiverHawks Independence Day Wooden Bat Tournament at Road Ranger Stadium.

The All-Stars defeated McHenry County 6-3 in the championship game on Sunday night in Loves Park. They finished the three-day tournament with a record of 3-1 and outscored its opponents 23-11.

In the second-place game, St. Louis Park (Minn.) defeated Bloomington (Minn.) Gold Post 550 16-7. Portage Park (Ill.) Post 183 edged host Hard Knox (Ill.) Post 1207 4-2. Freeport (Ill.) topped Notre Dame (Ill.) 5-4 to finish out play on Sunday.

St. Louis Park Minnesota Post 282 catcher Ryan Cohn was named the offensive player of the tournament. He also pulled the award as the tournaments most valuable player. In four games, he batted .643 (9-for-14) with two home runs and 12 RBI. He slugged a grand slam and connected on a three-run blast.

Alex Mack of the Bloomington Gold Post 550 was honored with the defensive player of the tournament award.

The 2007 tournament was made up of eight American Legion teams from Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
