‘Hawks erase deficit, snap losing streak, 7-6

July 7, 2007 - O’FALLON, Mo. – Rockford battled back from a six-run deficit to snap its five-game losing streak on Saturday night in Missouri.

The ‘Hawks bullpen tossed 7 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, as Rockford edged River City, 7-6, on Saturday night.

River City jumped on Rockford starter Dan Ziegler for six runs. The Rascals rallied for four runs in the first and two more in the second. Bobby Mosby (14) connected on a two-run home run to cap the scoring. Ziegler was chased after just 1 2/3 innings. He earned a no-decision.

Alhaji Turay’s (2) three-run home run off River City starter Bobby Ayala in the sixth inning put the RiverHawks on the board. Turay finished the day with four hits in as many at bats.

The Riverhawks added two runs in the sixth. Ayala was chased after allowing consecutive hits to Jason James and Will Henderson. RBI singles from Matt Hagen and Matt Sauls made it a one-run game.

Rockford took the lead for good in the seventh. Back to back doubles from Sean McFadden and James tied the game. Turay later doubled in James and the ‘Hawks led, 7-6.

In relief, Jason Baca (4-0) earned the win. He tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball and fanned three. Chad Linder (1-1) was handed the loss.

Closer Mike Marksbury (14) secured the final four outs the game for the save.

Brad Dutton was ejected from the game in the fifth inning. The series continues tomorrow night, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
