July 6, 2007 - SAUGET, Ill. – The RiverHawks woes at GCS Ballpark continued on Friday night, as the ‘Hawks dropped its fifth-straight game.

Dustin Roberts’ eighth inning grand slam highlighted the scoring, as Gateway cruised to an 8-3 victory over Rockford on Friday night in Sauget.

Gateway did not trail all night, continuing a trend which lasted during the series. At no point during the three-game series sweep the Grizzlies trail the RiverHawks.

Grizzlies starter Toro Trevino (7-0) keep his record perfect with another strong outing. He allowed three runs over 7 1/3 innings.

Rockford ace Tanner Watson (3-1) was ticketed with his first loss of the year. The right-hander allowed four runs, three of which were earned, over 4 2/3 innings. He left after loading the bases in the fifth inning. Garrett Bauer made his first relief appearance in two years, and allowed three runs over three innings.

Jason James lined a home run in the sixth inning and added an RBI single in the seventh. The ‘Hawks scored a lone run in the second inning on a ball misplayed by former RiverHawk Stephen Holdren, making it a 1-1 tilt.

Each team committed four errors.
