July 2, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – A two-out error in the seventh inning opened the door a crack for the Windy City ThunderBolts. The next four batters tore it from the hinges.

The ThunderBolts rallied for five unearned runs in the seventh and went on to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 9-4, in front of a near-sellout crowd of 2,819 Monday afternoon at Road Ranger Stadium.

Alhaji Turay hit his first Rockford home run and Roberto Valiente extended his hitting streak to 15 games in a losing effort.

The game featured seven ties or lead changes. Turay hit a two-run homer to left on Isaac Hess’ hanging curve in the fourth to give Rockford a 3-2 lead. Wes Long tied the game with a RBI double in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the inning, Brad Dutton’s RBI double put Rockford back in front.

In the seventh inning, Long reached on a two-out throwing error by third baseman Matt Hagen. Phil Hawke and Mike Coles followed with back-to-back, two-out RBI singles off reliever Dave Dowling (2-4). Scott Billak singled in two more runs and Gilberto Mejia doubled in a run.

Moonlighting infielder Amos Ramon (1-0), the third of six Windy City pitchers, won in relief.

Valiente doubled in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to 15 games, Rockford’s longest since Aaron McEachran hit in 19 straight games two years ago to tie a team record.
