RiverHawks trade for pitcher, release Roldan

July 2, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Dan Ziegler won’t have much time to get acclimated to Road Ranger Stadium.

The Rockford RiverHawks announced today they have acquired the pitcher in a trade with the Joliet Jackhammers and that Ziegler will start today’s game against Windy City. The independent Northern League team traded the lefty to the RiverHawks in exchange for future considerations.

To make room on the roster, the RiverHawks released third baseman Victor Roldan.

Ziegler, 22, is a true rookie out of Robert Morris College. He was 1-0 with a 5.31 ERA in six appearances, half as a starter, with the Jackhammers.

Roldan hit .200 with no home runs and six RBI in 30 games with Rockford. The RiverHawks acquired him from San Diego of the independent Golden League in a five-player deal last November.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
