Gragg goes distance, ‘Hawks win, 4-0

June 14, 2007 - CHILLICOTHE, Ohio. – John Gragg had no intention of going to the RiverHawks new-look bullpen.

The Rockford southpaw tossed the RiverHawks first complete game since August 21, 2006 as the ‘Hawks topped Chillicothe 4-0 Thursday in Ohio.

Gragg (1-3) faced only 30 batters, allowing three hits while fanning five and issuing no walks. He retired the side in order five times.

Aljai Turay opened the sixth with a single, extending his hitting streak to a team-high nine. Roberto Valiente doubled Turay to third and both scored on a Matt Hagen two-run single. Brandon Cohen would drive Hagen in on a single and chase Paints starter Zack Johnson (0-2) from the game. Johnson pitched five innings of three-run, five-hit ball. He walked six and took the loss.

A Robert Perkins RBI single in the eighth capped the scoring.

Rockford looks to take its three-game series in Chillicothe Friday night, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
