June 11, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Traverse City’s comeback kids did it again on Monday.

The Beach Bums rallied for five runs in the eighth inning and three in the ninth to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 11-5. The Bums batted around in the eighth and got the go-ahead run on a dropped fly ball. Ben Ramsey’s three-run homer in the ninth put the game away.

Three times in its last four games, one against Kalamazoo and three against Rockford, Traverse City has pushed across the winning runs in a late-inning rally.

On Monday, each team scored twice in the first inning. Rockford rallied for three in the bottom of the third. Jason James singled in the go-ahead run and Matt Hagen followed with a two-run shot to left-center, his second home run of the season.

Rockford starter Dave Dowling retired 10 in a row and 16 of 18 after Jeff Vincent’s two-out RBI double in the first. Dowling left with a 5-3 lead after seven innings, but settled for a no-decision.

In the eighth inning, Ramsey scored the go-ahead run when Rockford center fielder Roberto Valiente dropped Sam Orr’s fly. The Bums scored two more unearned runs off losing pitcher John Brownell (0-1).

Brett Bostelman struck out the side in the eighth inning and got the last six outs for his second save.
