Hagen’s hits lead RiverHawks to 11-6 win

June 10, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Matt Hagen had four hits Sunday to lead the Rockford RiverHawks to an 11-6 win over Traverse City.

The RiverHawks scored three times in the first and twice in the second, with a RBI single from Hagen in each inning, and never trailed. Hagen was 4-for-5 with four RBI, in front of 2,318 at Road Ranger Stadium. He matched a career high with four hits.

Rockford’s first four batters in the first inning singled. Alhaji Turay singled to left to drive in a run and Hagen beat out an infield single for his 200th career RBI. Roberto Valiente made it 3-0 with a RBI groundout.

After Traverse City scored two unearned runs in the second inning, Rockford answered with a RBI double by Sean McFadden and Hagen’s RBI single to left field. Hagen added a two-run double in the fourth, to knock out Traverse City starter Steve Shippey (0-3) and make it a 7-4 game. He singled in the eighth inning.

Rockford starter Brady Salter (2-1) scattered four runs, two earned, on six hits over seven innings.
