Cubs great Jenkins highlights upcoming promos

June 8, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Hall of Fame pitcher Ferguson Jenkins will be visiting Road Ranger Stadium this week.

The RiverHawks open a four-game home stand with the Traverse City Beach Bums on Saturday, June, 9 with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. The first 1,000 fans into the park will receive exclusive RiverHawks Jersey Koozie’s, presented by Axberg Heating and WXRX.

On Sunday night, former Chicago Cubs pitcher Ferguson Jenkins will be at Road Ranger Stadium to meet and greet with fans. Jenkins, who won 284 games over a 19-year professional career, will be signing autographs. Sunday also marks another Feldco Family Night. Following the game, kids will be permitted to run the bases. In addition, the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive RiverHawks hats courtesy of WIFR and B103.

Monday will be the first half-price Monday of the season. All prices at the ballpark will be cut in half.

Tuesday, June 12th, one fan will have the opportunity of a lifetime, presented by the Ken Rock Community Center/Boys and Girls Club of Rockford. A lucky fan will sign a one-day contract with the RiverHawks and take part in the June 12 game against Traverse City. The winner will participate in a press conference announcing the signing, just like a typical player. The experience will be all-inclusive. The winner will receive a full game uniform and dress in the clubhouse with the team, participate in pregame workouts, including batting practice, throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sit on the bench with the RiverHawks during the game. Following the game, the winner will officially retire from professional baseball. As a memory of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the winning fan will have his picture taken with the team and will be inserted into the team’s annual baseball card set. Prior to the game their will be a youth clinic on the field, presented by Saturn of Rockford Service Center. It will also be the second Ladies Night of the summer, which includes free wine tasting and other prizes will be provided. Ladies Night is made possible by Ronnie Gators, Clodius and Company, and Curves.

The gates open at Road Ranger Stadium one-and-a-half hours prior to first pitch. All games start at 7:05 p.m., except for Sunday which will be a 6:05 p.m. start.

The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007.
