RiverHawks snap skid, 15-3

June 1, 2007 - KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Three batters into Friday’s game, the Rockford RiverHawks had the lead. Eight batters into the game, they had already knocked out the opposing starter.

The RiverHawks scored five times in the first inning and went on to hammer the Kalamazoo Kings, 15-3. Rockford batted around in the first and again in the fourth inning as it snapped a four-game losing streak.

Joey Huskins , Alhaji Turay and Jason James each had three hits for Rockford.

The first five batters of the game reached base and scored. Kalamazoo starter Tyler Brown began the game with a walk of Joe Anthonsen , then hit Huskins. Turay, Matt Hagen and James followed with RBI singles. Brandon Cohen’s one-out, two-run single drove Brown (0-1) from the game.

The RiverHawks added six runs in the fourth and two each in the fifth and seventh innings.

Rockford starter Shaun Parker gave up a solo home run to Keith Brachold in the first inning and two unearned runs in the fourth. He retired 10 in a row after a fourth-inning error and went eight innings for the win. Parker (2-0) struck out five – all looking – and combined with Mike Marksbury on a four-hitter.
