« Back

May 18, 2007 - Crestwood, Ill. – Rockford’s inability to take advantage of scoring opportunities left them in the loss column for the second straight day.

The RiverHawks left four on base en route to a 6-2 exhibition loss to Windy City Friday night in Crestwood.

The ThunderBolts jumped on Rockford starter Mike Renery in the first inning as first baseman Phillip Hawke lifted a two-out, two-run double to right center. Windy City added a run an inning in the fifth, sixth, and seventh, putting the game away. Billy Phillips earned the victory for Windy City, tossing three innings of one-run, one-hit ball. For the RiverHawks, Bobby Darling was handed the loss, after he surrendered two runs over two innings while striking out two. Rockford got on the board with a leadoff home run from Matt Sauls in the top of the second inning.

The game was pre-determined to be a 10-inning affair, and concluded the spring training exhibition schedule for each team.

With the loss, Rockford finished the spring with a 1-3-3 record.
