April 9, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Fans are invited to a fun and free, all-access open house at RiverHawks Stadium.
The Rockford RiverHawks today announced their annual Meet Your Seat Day, scheduled for 12-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission, parking and promotions at the event are all free.
Fans who have already purchased season or mini-season tickets for the 2007 season will be able to pick out their choice of seat. Fans who are considering purchasing a season-ticket plan or just want to check out the ballpark are invited as well.
“Our goal is to get people who don’t currently have season tickets the best opportunity to get the best seat possible,” general manager Josh Olerud said. “In addition, this is a fun event for everyone. There’s something for everybody.”
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to come on the field and play catch in the outfield. Kids will have the run of the stadium both on and off the field. Youngsters are welcome to run the bases. In addition, the Kids Zone inflatables, including the speed pitch, will be open.
Guests will also enjoy free soft drinks and hot dogs while they watch the Chicago Cubs play live on the stadium video board.
Cevene Care Clinic will give chair massages in exchange for donations.
Fans who buy a season-ticket plan on Sunday will be entered into a raffle for one of two prizes – Cubs-Sox Crosstown Clash tickets or the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at the RiverHawks’ home opener on May 25. Anyone who buys a ticket plan on Sunday will receive a gift card valid at the stadium’s team store or concession stands. A full-season ticket purchase will earn a $25 gift card; a 10-game mini purchase will earn a $10 card.
RiverHawks Stadium is at 4503 Interstate Blvd. in Loves Park, near the I-90/Riverside interchange.
The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007. The RiverHawks begin their sixth season on May 23 at Windy City. The home opener is at 7:05 p.m. May 25, when the RiverHawks host Windy City.
