February 7, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – WNTA is the new radio home of Rockford RiverHawks baseball.

The RiverHawks announced today that they have moved their full 96-game package to WNTA, 1330 AM. Bill Czaja returns for his sixth season as the team’s lead play-by-play broadcaster.

Each broadcast begins 15 minutes prior to gametime with the Miller Lite Pregame Show. In addition to every regular-season game, WNTA will also air the Frontier League playoffs and a weekly, one-hour RiverHawks show.

The station is part of Maverick Media, which includes WXRX-FM (104.9 – the X), WGFB-FM (B103-FM) and WRTB-FM (BOB FM).

“We’re going to an already-strong, community-based station that the RiverHawks and our fans will benefit from,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said. “This is just the natural evolution of our relationship with Maverick Media and our strong partnership with WXRX.”

WXRX on-air personality Scott “Driver” Bentley has been the RiverHawks’ No. 1 public-address announcer for five years. Following Driver’s move to weeknights in 2005, drive-time host Jim Stone took over the mic for weeknight games that season. In addition, WXRX will continue to sponsor Dollar Beer Night at RiverHawks Stadium.

Broadcasts will continue to be simulcast on the web. In addition, the broadcasts can be heard locally on Insight Cable channel 57.

The RiverHawks had been on Rochelle-based WRHL-FM since they moved to Rockford for the 2002 season.

“WRHL was a big part of our success on the air over the last five years, but with our move to our new location, it made sense for us and our fans to enjoy a local station that has local programming,” Olerud said.

The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007. Advertising, season-ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
