RiverHawks sign pitcher

December 4, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. -- The Rockford RiverHawks announced today that they have signed pitcher Mike Renery.

Renery joins his fifth independent team in four professional seasons. The right-hander spent 2003 with the Alexandria Aces of the now-defunct Central League, did not play in 2004 and spent 2005 with the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League. Renery split 2006 with the FL's River City Rascals and the Can-Am League's Sussex Skyhawks. Renery was 0-7 with a 5.05 ERA in 11 starts for the Rascals. He was 0-1 with a 16.20 ERA in three appearances with Sussex.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007.
