December 4, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Thanks to the generosity of the Rock River Valley, the less fortunate of the community will have a little more this Christmas.

Visitors to the Rockford RiverHawks Holiday Drive for Giving Saturday at Bad Ass Coffee filled half a semi trailer provided by Con-Way Freight with items for the needy. Food and new and used clothing and toys have been distributed to the Rockford Rescue Mission.

“It was nice to see that people are so generous that they were willing to brave the elements to help the less fortunate, said Marshall Mackinder, the team’s director of promotions.

In addition to meeting Rocko the RiverHawk and Kona, the Bad Ass mascot, donors received free Bad Ass coffee and were registered to win a prize basket, which included a four-pack of RiverHawks tickets. Prize winners were: Sheryl Hofkamp of Loves Park, Carla Erickson of Belvidere, John Criner of Loves Park and Mrs. Victor Rovedo of Rockford.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007. Advertising, season-ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
