Former all-star hosts RiverHawks holiday clinic

October 26, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Former Frontier League all-star Tony Pigott will be the featured instructor at the Rockford RiverHawks Holiday Baseball Training Clinic.

Pigott, members of the team’s coaching staff and former and current players will provide instruction in two December sessions at Pigott’s School of Hard Knox. Two sessions, Dec. 19-22 and 26-29, are scheduled to be held at Triple Play USA. The cost is $100 per camper and includes a clinic T-shirt.

The camp runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and will have a different focus each day – throwing and footwork; hitting and bunting; pitching and catching; skill challenges.

“We’ll cover pretty much everything throughout the four days,” Pigott said.

Instructors who have already committed to the clinic include bench coach Bob Koopmann, the RiverHawks’ original manager and the new head coach at Rockford College; bullpen coach Sam Knaack, the head coach at Rochelle High School; former RiverHawk Josh Tomsu, the team’s all-time leader in pitching wins.
