Bauer beats ‘Bolts, 5-1

August 12, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Garrett Bauer pitched a complete game and Brad Dutton had a pair of run-scoring hits as the Rockford RiverHawks beat Windy City, 5-1, in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday at RiverHawks Stadium.

Bauer (5-4) struck out a career high 10 and walked just two. He scattered five hits in his first complete game of the season. After he gave up a one-out infield hit to Charlie Lisk in the third inning, Bauer retired 15 in a row.

Dutton was 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBI. The rookie gave the RiverHawks a 2-1 lead with a two-out, two-run double down the left-field line in the second inning. He singled in a run in the fourth.

Windy City starter Toro Trevino (5-2) allowed just two earned runs in seven innings of work. Three errors by the ThunderBolts resulted in three unearned runs.

The RiverHawks announced a crowd of 3,641, their second consecutive sellout and fourth of the year.

The six-game homestand ends at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. LaSalle Bank and ESPN 1380 sponsor RiverHawks Youth Glove Night. The Rockford Register Star and Great Lakes Baseball Academy sponsor Family Night. A four-pack of tickets, hot dogs and soft drinks is just $40. Kids get to run the bases after the game.
