August 1, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks continue to make moves in their quest for another playoff appearance.

On the off day today, the RiverHawks announced they had added two players, released three and added another to the disabled list. Bobby Darling and Shaun Parker were placed on the roster. Room was added when Rockford released Cody Brooks, Pat Isoz and Ryan Brnardic. Joe Barbosa had to be placed on the disabled list.

Barbosa left after one inning in his start on July 31. He was visited by the training staff during the inning but continued to pitch. Barbosa had surgery last year on his throwing shoulder after tearing his labrum.

Darling, a right-handed pitcher, played this season at Tusculum College, a Division II school. He went 6-3 in twelve appearances with an ERA of 4.82. That includes ten starts and two complete games.

Parker began the season with the Traverse City Beach Bums. He went 3-4 with a 5.72 ERA. While most of his time was spent as a starter, Parker went 1-0 with an ERA of 3.00 and a save in three relief appearances. This is Parker’s third year in professional baseball.

Brooks, a true rookie who played the infield and outfield for Rockford, hit .214 with no home runs and 10 RBI. Isoz played in one game; the Rockford native went 0-for-2 as a designated hitter. Brnardic was 0-1 with a 6.52 ERA in 18 appearances in his fourth professional season.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season.
