DiBlasi returns to RiverHawks

July 30, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – A veteran of the 2004 Frontier League championship is back with the Rockford RiverHawks.

Today, the RiverHawks announced that they had re-signed utility player Chris DiBlasi. DiBlasi played for the RiverHawks from 2003-05 and was traded to Richmond for pitcher Beau Massey last Aug. 15. He joined Florence last winter, but was released in spring training.

DiBlasi is a career .230 hitter who still has rookie status in the Frontier League. He hit .303 with a home run and 13 RBI in 21 games for the RiverHawks last season. He batted .205 with a home run and five RBI in 17 games after the trade.

DiBlasi has played every position but center field, shortstop and pitcher in his career.

Earlier Sunday, the RiverHawks announced the retirement of catcher Eric Cavers. Cavers left the club after hitting .229 with a home run and seven RBI in 35 at-bats. He had been released by the Houston organization after he began the year with Class A Lexington.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season in 2006.
