July 28, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Lightning struck in the same place twice, and in the same series to boot.

The Rockford RiverHawks broke a shutout in the eighth inning with an 11-run rally and beat River City, 11-3, on Friday. The RiverHawks rallied the finale of a three-game series in which each game was decided in the winning team’s final at-bat.

On Wednesday, the RiverHawks blew a six-run lead as the Rascals rallied for 11 runs in the ninth inning and beat Rockford, 13-8. On Thursday, River City scored twice in the top of the ninth to break a tie and beat the RiverHawks, 3-1.

On Friday, the RiverHawks sent 15 to the plate and collected 10 hits in the eighth inning, in front of 2,718 at RiverHawks Stadium.

River City starter Aaron Ledbetter entered the eighth with a five-hit shutout in a 3-0 game. Rockford drove Ledbetter (4-6) from the game with six straight singles to begin the eighth. Pinch-hitter Bo Flowers singled in the tying and go-ahead runs to knock out Ledbetter.

Jake Bowen delivered the big blow, a three-run double that broke the game open. The first 13 batters of the inning reached safely. Rico Santana had a pair of RBI singles in the eighth and was 4-for-5.

Auggie Rodriguez (3-0) won in relief. He replaced starter Derek Roper after Mike Cockrell’s RBI single in the seventh inning. Roper also gave up Chris Brown’s two-run homer to the beer garden in right field in the sixth inning, but struck out a season-high nine.
