RiverHawks honor Pitch, Hit and Run winners

June 27, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks hosted a night for the winners from the Pepsi Pitch, Hit and Run event held at RiverHawks Stadium on June 3.

The top three from each age group were invited to attend a RiverHawks game on the house on Sunday. They were presented with medals for their outstanding efforts.

The four top finishers also threw out the first pitch.

Three of the participants also qualified to compete at Wrigley Field. Their scores were compared against sectionals from around the region for the opportunity to show their best at the home of the Chicago Cubs.

Austin Blackburn, 10, from Dixon, and Casey McCallister, 12, from Rock Falls, came in second in their age groups. Logan Whitman, 8, from Milledgeville, came in fourth.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season.
