Chillicothe shuts out RiverHawks, 4-0

June 23, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Jake Hines and Nick Cavanagh combined on a five-hitter Friday as the Chillicothe Paints shut out the Rockford RiverHawks, 4-0.

Hines (2-1) scattered five hits, struck out five and walked one in six innings. Cavanagh pitched three innings for his third save. Cavanagh struck out six and retired all nine he faced in order.

The Paints won their sixth in a row and ended the RiverHawks’ four-game winning streak, in front of 2,389 at RiverHawks Stadium.

Chillicothe led from the first inning on. John Ramistella hit his fifth home run of the year, a two-run, two-out shot to left off Dane Towery in the first. Towery (3-3) gave up seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. Jaziel Mendoza doubled the lead with a two-run single in the eighth inning.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. State Farm sponsors RiverHawks Logo Baseball Night.
