RiverHawks homer way to 7-1 win

June 20, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks came home and left the park twice.

The RiverHawks had their first multi-homer game of the season on Tuesday as they beat Florence, 7-1, to begin a six-game homestand. Scott Lefler hit his first home run and Gooby Gerlits hit his second, both in a three-run sixth inning that broke the game open.

The RiverHawks scored three times in the third inning and led the rest of the night. Bo Flowers doubled in two runs and scored on a Nick Johnson single.

Rockford starter Derek Roper (2-2) pitched five-hit ball over 7 1/3 innings for the win. Jerred Novotny broke up the shutout with a home run in the top of the sixth.

Florence starter Jason Bowlin (0-3) was roughed up for 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. The ASK Campaign and 95.3 – the Eagle sponsor RiverHawks T-Shirt Night. Local band Damaged Goods plays concerts at 5:30 p.m. and immediately following the game.
