June 11, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Joe Anthonsen extended his hitting streak to 10 games and Tanner Watson returned to the mound on Sunday as the Rockford RiverHawks shut out the Traverse City Beach Bums, 8-0.

Watson and the bullpen combined on a six-hitter to stop Rockford’s losing streak at three and end Traverse City’s four-game winning streak. The Canadian right-hander’s arrival had been delayed until May 30 by visa problems.

In his season debut, Watson (1-0) scattered three hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter in six innings.

Anthonsen was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk. The rookie second baseman broke a scoreless tie with a two-out, line-drive single to center in the third inning. In the fifth, he doubled home a run. Nick Johnson singled home two more to give the RiverHawks a 4-0 lead and drive Traverse City starter Shaun Parker (1-3) from the game.

The rubber match of the three-game series is at 7:05 p.m. on WZOK Margarita Monday. Margaritas are $3 each.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season.
