May 25, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have granted outfielder Jake Dickinson his release at his request. Dickinson, who came to Rockford through a trade with Jackson of the Central League last season, wants to be able to play every day. But the ‘Hawks have Rico Santana, Matt Sauls, and Nick Johnson on the depth chart ahead of him.

“Jake came up big for the RiverHawks during the playoff run last year,” General Manager Josh Olerud said of the move. “We’re sorry to see him go, but we understand and respect his decision. We wish him the best of luck wherever he winds up.”

Dickinson hit .245 with one home run and two RBI in 13 games with the RiverHawks last year. He did not play in the opening game between Rockford and Windy City yesterday.

Opening Day at RiverHawks Stadium is 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 31. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 14th season in 2006. Advertising, ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 964-2255. All games are broadcast live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 – the Hub and online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
