Sunday's home exhibition cancelled
« Back

May 13, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks’ exhibition scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled due to the poor weather forecast and the travel needed by Joliet. The game had been set to start at 3 p.m., but now the team will play an intra-squad scrimmage that will not be open to the public.

This is the second time poor weather has altered the RiverHawks’ exhibition schedule. A Saturday doubleheader against the Windy City ThunderBolts has been rescheduled for noon Monday at Hawkinson Ford Field in Crestwood. They will be scheduled for nine innings each, RiverHawks manager J.D. Arndt said, two innings longer than the standard regulation minor-league doubleheader game.

The exhibition schedule concludes with a doubleheader against the ThunderBolts at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 18 at RiverHawks Stadium.

Tickets for exhibition games at RiverHawks Stadium will not be made available to the general public. Season-ticket holders and media have been invited. Food will be catered by Toni’s of Winnebago. The annual season-ticket holders’ party is scheduled for between games of the doubleheader on Thursday, approximately 6 p.m.

Season tickets and ticket packages are still available by calling the box office at 885-BALL (2255). Single-game tickets are also now available either by calling the box office or online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.

The season starts at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 24 at Windy City. Opening Day at RiverHawks Stadium is 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 31. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 14th season in 2006. Advertising, season-ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 964-2255. All games are broadcast live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 – the Hub and online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
