Stadium emerges from construction 30 days before opener
« Back

May 1, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. -- With 30 days left until the opener, RiverHawks Stadium is beginning to emerge from construction. Numerous distinct stadium elements are now visible.

The first thing visitors to Meet Your Seat Day will notice on Saturday is the completion of all paving work and striping in the parking lot. In addition, the backstop net is up behind home plate, while its counterpart is up in center field, ready to serve as the hitter's background.

And while fans won't get to see the inside, all five portions of the clubhouse have arrived from Wisconsin and are being readied for spring training. The most hardcore Green Bay Packers fans may recognize this structure as the locker room used for visiting players during the renovation of Lambeau Field.

Meet Your Seat Day begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at RiverHawks Stadium and serves as the kickoff to Fan Fest. Fans who purchase full-season ticket plans before Fan Fest will get a number of perks, including VIP time with featured guests Bill Madlock and Ron Kittle.

Fan Fest is scheduled for noon-5 p.m. Sunday at J.D.'s Sports Bar and Grill, 908 W. Riverside. Tickets for Fan Fest are available by calling the RiverHawks at (815) 885-BALL or J.D.'s at 639-9488.

Fans who purchase full season tickets before Sunday will receive free Fan Fest tickets.
