October 19, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Teams from three states will compete in the final youth tournament of the year at Road Ranger Stadium and Marinelli Field this weekend.

The 12-team tournament begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and features the Junior RiverHawks, as well as the Titan Select Prospects out of Wisconsin and the Hit Dawgs Red and Hit Dawgs Black from Minnesota. Several other teams from Illinois will also participate.

There are 12 games scheduled for Saturday. Another six are scheduled for Sunday, including the championship, which will be at 5 p.m. at Road Ranger Stadium. Sunday’s games also start at 8 a.m.

“We have had a great year with our youth tournaments,” director of operations Chris Daleo said. “Teams from across the Midwest have come out to Rockford and provided quality competition throughout the summer and into the early fall. The tournaments bring new people out to the ballparks, and are an example of the RiverHawks’ commitment to youth baseball in the Stateline.”

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children nine and under. For more information, contact the RiverHawks front office at (815) 885-BALL.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 20th season in 2012. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
