October 18, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks will host hitting and fielding mini-clinics once a week at Wallbangers Academy in Loves Park during November.
Junior RiverHawks 15U head coach Justin Small is running the clinics, and he will be assisted by RiverHawks manager Rich Austin, hitting coach Pat O’Sullivan and 16U head coach Derek Barrone. The first fielding clinic is scheduled for Friday, November 4, and the first hitting clinic will take place Saturday, November 5. There will be four fielding and hitting clinics, and they will go through Thanksgiving weekend.
The mini-clinics will be broken up into two different groups; nine to 13-year-olds, and high school students. The younger group will have fielding clinics from 5 to 6 p.m. and hitting clinics from 4 to 5 p.m. High school students will go from 6 to 7 p.m. for the fielding clinics, and 5 to 6 p.m. for the hitting clinics.
These mini-clinics are only open to four kids and the cost is $40. That price includes all four clinics. Those interested in participating in both the hitting and fielding clinics must sign up for each individually.
“Our mini-clinics will give kids the opportunity for group and one-on-one instruction from experienced high school coaches and professionals,” Small said. “The timing of the clinics also allows kids to keep learning and practicing through the offseason, and therefore be more prepared for next spring.”

"Winter work is where players get better, and the RiverHawks are committed to helping them improve their skills through clinics and lessons during the offseason."
