September 26, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Junior RiverHawks will hold open tryouts for their 15 and 16U teams on Monday, October 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Road Ranger Stadium.

Tryouts will be run by 15U head coach Justin Small and 16U head coach Derek Barrone. RiverHawks manager Rich Austin and hitting coach Pat O’Sullivan will also be assisting. Small is the former Mendota High School head varsity coach, and Barrone is the assistant varsity coach at Boylan Catholic in Rockford.

In order to be eligible to play 15U, you must not turn 16 before May 1, 2012. Anyone interested in the 16U club must not turn 17 before the same date.

The Junior RiverHawks program competes in prestigious tournaments at Road Ranger Stadium and other top venues against teams from across the Midwest. Players will receive instruction from experienced college and varsity coaches, as well as former professional players. There are also several showcase opportunities for players who make the teams.

“Derek (Barrone) and I are looking for players to fill out 13-men rosters that will practice through the winter and then be ready to hit the ground running next summer,” Small said.

For more information, contact Small at (815) 980-6219, Barrone at (815) 979-4416, or the RiverHawks front office at (815) 885-2255.
